Got a late-afternoon meeting with my pastor today, so online time is a bit shorter than usual and the anti-blog post earlier than usual.
NT reliability book: UGH! Rollins College charges $50 per year for a library card, and that was not stated on their website. Would be nice if it had been! So instead, I did an assessment of the few books left I had thought to read and figured out what was “must have” for the NT reliability book. I trimmed down the remaining list considerably by consulting the “look inside” feature at Amazon, then ordered a couple real cheap (including one for a mere penny plus shipping). Basically, I now have less than half a dozen books to read before my reading is done; and from here on, it’ll mostly be composition work.
E-Block: Watched 1 more sermon of Joel Osteen. I’m picking up more interesting material from the stuff before the sermon than what comes during it.
Project S: Worked with the HTML templates on files previously composed, and composed a few new ones.
Other news: So now instead of Timothy Freke, I’ll be starting a debate on a website called Opposing Views. My opponent(s) – as yet unknown. I’m to start by posting some arguments over the next few days. Right now, and for a while, the page is only accessible to OV’s designated “experts”. Soon I’ll post some of my material on Tacitus to start. (There were technical issues that kept me from doing it today.)
Also made changes to donation instruction page: http://www.tektonics.org/doninst.html In particular, I want to note the additions that speak of future project ideas:
Production of books. I want to produce at least one book per year on apologetics. The cost for each book will amount to $5000 -- $1000 for the actual printing, $4000 for the time necessary to research, write, and produce the book. My first book in this project line was Shattering the Christ Myth (2008) and I am now working on one with the working title Trusting the New Testament to be released in 2009.
Films/DVDs. I'd like to start doing these; I already have a screenplay in mind for one related to the Christ Myth. The format would be educational with an entertaining slant -- if you've ever seen it, think of the Food Network program Good Eats. Alton Brown is da bomb!
Pretty soon I’ll add an activity segment where I work on that first screenplay in detail!
E-mails answered: 20 today, plus 10 yesterday while I did other stuff.
